About Higgins & Sons Funeral Directors, Roscommon
Higgins & Sons Funeral Directors, a second generation of funeral directors who service Co. Roscommon, the west of Ireland and beyond for all of your funeral needs. The funeral director profession has changed significantly over the years. Traditionally burials were very simplistic in nature and usually consisted of Catholic or Protestant burials here in Ireland. Nowadays, due to the addition of geographically dispersed nationalities, diversity of faith and new environmental regulations, the funeral director has had to make a paradigm shift to accommodate the emerging and progressive wants and needs of our clients in this current climate.
Here at Higgins & Sons we welcome all faith/non-faith/humanist denominations as we respect the various needs and wants of our clients.
“We aim to provide you with the most memorable experience possible”.
A funeral director, also known as a mortician or undertaker, is a professional involved in the business of funeral rites. These tasks often entail the embalming and burial or cremation of the dead, as well as the planning and arrangement of the actual funeral ceremony. Funeral directors may at times be asked to perform tasks such as dressing (in garments usually suitable for daily wear), casketing (placing the human body in the container), and cosmetizing (applying any sort of cosmetic or substance to the viewable areas of the person for the purpose of enhancing appearances).”
