Arranging a Funeral

The funeral of a family member or friend can be the most difficult day of your life. On this day you will most probably feel deep shock and enormous grief. Regardless of whether the death of your loved one was expected or not often does not ease this great sense of loss and grief or prepare you for this sad event.

Higgins and Sons Funeral Directors are here for you during this time every step of the way. We are trained to relieve you of the additional burden of having to arrange a funeral at your time of loss. Please be assured that this transition will be handled with compassion, dignity and respect for you and your deceased loved one. We promise to provide you with complete details of all of the services we provide and which are appropriate for your particular set of circumstances.

The First Call/Meeting

You should notify us as soon as possible of the passing of your loved one. We will discuss your wishes or your loved ones wishes in addition to all of the services we provide and walk you step by step through the process. We can meet in our newly appointed office, on Main Street, Boyle which we believe lends to a warm and peaceful environment where you and your family will be welcomed with a cup of tea/coffee. There we can chat about your wishes in a calm and relaxing way without being rushed. At this point you can choose a coffin from our wide range which are displayed discreetly in an adjoining room off the office space. You will be provided with as much time as you need or is needed to take care of the necessary arrangements. We will ensure you receive all details and information concerning arrangements so that you can make an informed decision. This may take one of more visits or conversations.

Final wishes

Once we receive your final wishes we will make all of the funeral arrangements on your behalf, which include but are not limited to contacting clergy (if applicable), newspaper and online obituaries, cemetery, flowers, crematorium (if applicable) etc.

The Funeral Director who meets with you at the beginning will be the person you will deal with throughout the process and will be your personal consultant who will guide and provide you with impartial advice through each step of the process. We believe that once your decisions are made with regard to your loved ones remains you should be comfortable leaving the arrangements with us and we want you to feel assured that we will take care of your loved one with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Additionally

To help ease the financial burden of the passing of your loved one you will not be asked to make a deposit (unless you choose otherwise) upfront. An invoice will be prepared within 30 days of your loved one’s passing.
